President Erdogan’s Commitment: Rebuilding and Supporting Earthquake Victims in Turkey
In a recent speech, Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, promised support for victims of last month’s devastating earthquake. These events took over 45,000 lives in the southern regions of Turkey.
Erdogan’s Vow to Earthquake Victims
Speaking at the Justice and Development (AK) Party’s group meeting in parliament, Erdogan assured the nation of his commitment. He aims to erase all remnants of the Feb. 6 earthquake, initiating reconstruction in the impacted areas.
The Scale of the Earthquake
Two significant earthquakes, with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6, hit Kahramanmaras. These affected around 13.5 million people across 10 provinces. Erdogan emphasized that this rebuilding task would be challenging, given its scale. Yet, he promised well-constructed homes to replace the fallen ones, envisioning a brighter future for the residents.
Upcoming Elections: A Firm Date
Alongside this, Erdogan touched upon the forthcoming elections. He confirmed they’d proceed on May 14 as initially set. This comes amid speculations of a possible delay to later in the year or the scheduled date of June 18.
A Ray of Hope Amidst Tragedy
Even with the overwhelming destruction caused by these quakes, Erdogan’s unwavering dedication offers a beacon of hope. His pledge to support victims and spearhead rebuilding efforts paints an optimistic picture for Turkey’s future.
